At the age of 45 I was dead, not dead in the sense we think of, but my soul was dead. I walked into my sober living home at TBSL broken in so many ways, not sure of who I really was. I knew I was Michelle, the mother of three beautiful children, but that's about all I recognized, just the outer layer of myself. I was numb to everything and everyone. My many years of addiction had abducted me long ago. I am proud to say that today I am 45 days clean and sober. If I was not where I am today, I wouldn't be alive, I have no doubt about that. I now have a recovery program that has giving me the tools to live again. All I have to do is the next right thing.

Hi my name is Lacy and I'm an alcoholic. I used to be ashamed to say that, today I am grateful. Alcohol and drugs consumed my LIFE, my THOUGHTS, my WORDS, my ACTIONS. My disease controlled me, and as a result hurt the ones I love. Today I no longer have an obsession to use everyday. Today my first thought in the morning is not my next drink or drug. I live life today. I am able to be a family member, a productive member of society, and a friend. Today I'm real, I not longer live in a fake world induced by drugs and alcohol. The life I live today is amazing, and I wouldn't have the life I have today if I wasn't in recovery.
